On July 4th 2017, North Korea in an attempt to disturb the United States, decided to launch an ICBM proving to the world they are closer to "World Domination". Understand that South Korea is probably one of our closest allies in the world, we've defended them since the Korean war. There has been peace treaty, just a general cease fire. We are still at war with North Korea, and they know it.
In only a few minutes North Korea could launch a complete artillery strike on the capital of South Korea and level the city, causing mass losses. The North Korean military is hardened, and most of the military positions are below the ground making most conventional war methods mute.
